Why did you start streaming, how long have you been a streamer?
I started streaming because I wanted to raise money for a charity event I had always seen in my local mall every year. Roughly 150 people would fill up an ice-rink and game for 24 hours straight to raise money for a local children’s hospital and I always thought it was an amazing cause and looked like so much fun, so eventually once I had my own computer I wanted to give it a go! I have now been streaming for roughly 2.5 years but only started seriously streaming about 2 years ago.
Are you, are would you like to become a full time streamer?
I am currently a full-time streamer!
What challenges have you faced while streaming?
That certain people assume streaming is easy just because of my gender. It’s something that always upsets me when people say it’s easy and that they too could “slap on a wig” and do the same thing as me. It took a lot of hard work and effort for me to be able to grow to where I am today and it makes me sad when people discredit that because of my gender or the way I look.
What did you find surprising about streaming?
How much it’d change my life for the better. I am forever thankful for all the amazing people I have met during my streaming journey and I wouldn’t know where I’d be today without those people in my life.
What strategies do you use to engage your audience?
I always try to do my best to keep a conversation going so that even if there’s new people lurking hopefully they’d be able to join in as well! I don’t want anyone to feel excluded.
Do you think your stream’s style will change soon for any reason?
I can’t see myself making any drastic changes to my streaming style soon.
Has streaming changed the way you view other streamers?
Sort of! I always knew that streaming took a lot of time, effort, and work but once you actually experience it for yourself you realize that it’s not an easy task and I really admire the people who have been doing it for so long.
Has streaming changed the way you interact with the streamer, when you’re an audience member?
Yes! I know that sometimes when streaming you can have a quiet time in chat and I usually like to try and help out my friends and keep the conversation going to help them out.
How would you rate yourself as a streamer (1-10)? Are you at the level you want to be?
I’d say I’m like a 6. I’m not where I want to be and I know that I need to work harder to get there and that I have the potential to do it if I put my mind towards it.
What advice would you give a new streamer to grow to where you are now?
Meet other streamers! Connections are a huuuuge way to grow and making friends with other streamers is key. Also make sure that what you’re streaming is something you actually enjoy or you may get burnt out very fast.
